The Good Shepherd and the Girl who had No Service
Captain's Log, Day 2
The first few days of our vacations are the most mellow out of all. At this point, we are adjusting to everything: the weather, our enormous RV, driving- two out of three of those items only half of us actually experienced (PollTime! Bug our Squad to get their license and you'll win the grand prize of our total gratitude!).
If there was anything to say about the Church of the Good Shepherd, the summation of my feelings would be this: hushed.
Maybe it was having no cellular service or data (thank you, T-Mobile), or maybe the enormous plot of rubble spread in front of the church. As I crunched across to the lake, I found it difficult to feel anything more than faint frustration toward the missing connection to the wireless community when I could bask in the actual separation from my life miles away.
"You really gonna go?"
There wasn't much else I had to say about the Church or the rest of the scene. As I stood at the edge of the water watching Thomas try to wade out to get his shot, I basked in giddy, childlike excitement ready to explore.
